Self Love

The Ultimate Confidence Mantra

Spoilers: I love myself. I love myself. I love myself.

Anyone feeling particularly bad at life lately? Maybe it’s this whole pandemic thing, but I have personally been struggling to find some pep in my step and could use a little confidence boost.

Webster defines confidence as a feeling or consciousness of one’s powers or of reliance on one’s circumstances. Soak that in for a second. A feeling or consciousness of one’s power. Replace the “one’s” with your; a feeling or consciousness of your power and reliance on your circumstances. Now we have a good, working definition.

Confidence is the consciousness of your power and reliance on your circumstances.

Confidence is that oompf, that vigor, that passion behind you and what you believe in. Confidence is recognition of your own power. Confidence is believing in who you are, what you’re doing, and what you have to offer.

Confidence is believing in who you are, and trusting yourself and your decisions.

Your confidence is directly correlated to how you project yourself, your ideas, and your very being into the universe. When your confidence is high, you feel like you’re soaring through life. When your confidence is low your highs don’t feel as high, and your lows start to feel impossibly low.

If you’ve ever struggled with confidence, you’re not alone. Everyone, and yes I mean EVERYONE, goes through confidence issues at one point in their lives. Forgive yourself, trust yourself, and start to build yourself up.

If confidence is consciousness of power, to build confidence you need to find, hone, and develop your power. I find it’s easiest to do this by using what I call the confidence mantra. If you’re not familiar, a mantra is a word or phrase you repeat often out loud until it becomes second nature. And yes, you have to say it out loud, and often. There’s something about speaking words into the universe really solidifies what you’re saying. It’s kind of like promise to yourself.

I’ve tried a few, but my favorite confidence building mantra is “I love myself”. You might feel silly at first, but it’s super empowering to say “I love myself” out loud. Try it! *pause* Now do it again. Weird, but kind of awesome right?

I love myself. I love myself. I love myself.

Actively, audibly and consistently telling yourself you love yourself on the daily will build your confidence muscles. Live by this mantra. Say it at least once an hour. Wake up and say it, and go to sleep thinking it. Every free moment you find, remind yourself how much you love yourself.

I love myself. I love myself. I love myself.

You can start to have a little fun with it by individually naming things you love about yourself. I love my brain. I love the way I think. I love that I’m an analyzer. I love my olive-y skin type. I love that I’m creative. I love my long brown hair. Heck, I even love my annoying cowlick because it’s mine, and I’m freaking awesome.

If you’re constantly telling yourself how much you love yourself your negative self talk will turn into a loving, nurturing self talk. A forgiving, peaceful self talk that helps you overcome little things that may have ruined your day before.

This little mantra has helped me dig myself out of some deep confidence issues in the past. I’ve been through a lot: rough break ups, difficult work situations, complete career changes, imbalanced friendships, and family secrets that shook the core of who I am. I got through all my ups and downs by truly working at loving myself.

If there’s one thing I can impart onto you, it is to always have a deep love for yourself. If you love yourself deeply, you’ll always have confidence and the world will be yours to conquer.

So that’s it! That’s my ultimate confidence mantra. I hope it works for you as well as it has for me in the past. If there’s another mantra that has worked for you, please share it in the comments below!
